This variety is reputed to be the best offspring of Cox’s Orange Pippin. Has soft creamy-white flesh that develops a subtle aniseed flavour when picked and left for several days. Also has good disease resistance and is partially self-fertile. Requires a sunny position with moist, free-draining, fertile soil. Mid season. Heavier crops are produced when pollinated by another variety such as Calville Blanc D’Hiver, Cornish Aromatic, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Kidd’s Orange Red and Red Delicious.
