The branches and stems are crimson and orange in colour with lemon-green foliage from spring  and through summer and becoming golden-yellow in autumn. Small, fragrant white flowers begin to appear in late spring that attract butterflies, followed by clusters of dark purple berries at the end of summer and early autumn, these then attract birds. Plant in either full sun or part shade where soil is organically rich, moist and free-draining. Best colour appears on new growth so some pruning may be necessary.

Grows to between 1.5m to 1.8m in height and width.
