A slow-growing deciduous shrub with flat, rigid with regularly branched sprays resembling a herring bone-pattern. Has small, glossy green foliage that turn to shades of orange and red in autumn. Produces small, pinkish-white flowers in spring followed by the bright red berries in autumn that are often eaten by birds. Plant in full sun or part shade where soil is moist and free-draining. Hardy.
