A broad-leaf evergreen that has small, bell-shaped flowers hanging down during Autumn. From these, strawberry-like fruit develop being pale green and gradually turning to yellow and finally to red when fully ripe attract birds to the garden. These fruit are edible but are fairly bland to taste. May be grown in full sun or partial shade in most types of soil that are acidic and free-draining. Tolerates periods of drought and they are suitable for growing in coastal locations.
They usually grow to about 4.5m both in height and width.
