Better known as Persian Ironwood. It is a wide-spreading, often multi-stemmed deciduous tree with attractive flaking bark and has small crimson-red flowers appearing on the bare stems in late winter, early spring. Leaves are a lush green colour with a purple-brown margin. In autumn foliage becomes various shades of yellow, red and purple, makes for an excellent specimen/feature tree. Plant in full sun or light shade, average type soils that are free-draining.

Grows o about 10m x 5m.
