Strelitsia reginae plants consist of clumps of greyish-green leaves, with long stalks and broad oval blades, arising from an underground rhizome. The plant gets its common name from the exotic appearance of the flowering head. Emerging from a horizontal green and pink boat-shaped bract in slow succession, the flowers look like the crest on a birds head. Plant in a sunny position where soils are fertile and free-draining. Evergreen perennial.
Grows to approximately 1.2m.
