Texas Redbud. A great feature/specimen tree for the garden, covered in a profusion of mauve flowers in winter and spring. Has large, heart-shaped foliage, emerging with a tinge of soft pink, then becoming a lustrious green colour. Prefers full sun and moist but well-drained soil.
Grows to about 4m x 3m.
