Better known as the Chilean Fire Bush or Chilean Fire Tree. They are an upright, evergreen shrub or small tree with leathery, lance-shaped leaves and clusters of narrowly, tubular scarlet flowers in late spring and early summer. Cold hardy but does prefer a warm, sheltered position with average type soils that are free-draining but should not be allowed to get dry especially during the summer months. May be grown in either full sun or semi-shade and grows to about 4.5m x 2.5m.
