Purple-red flowers emerge in spring and through into summer followed by berries that turn black when ripe which are edible and readily eaten by birds. May be grown in either full sun or partial shade where soils are reasonably fertile, moist but free-draining.
Grows to approximately 5m in height and upto 3m wide.
