Also known as Californian Ribes or Fuchsia-Flowered Ribes. A hardy, deciduous shrub with stems covered in bristles and spines. Produces tubular, fuchsia-like flowers followed by orange-red berries. Has glossy green foliage that provides good autumn colour. Likes full sun or part shade in fertile, moist but free-draining soil. Suitable as a feature plant or planted out to form hedging.
May grow to about 3m in height if left untrimmed.
