The Japanese Loquat produces soft yellow edible fruit on an attractive large leafed tree. Not only grown for its tasty oval fruits, but also for its leaves, which are used to make herbal tea.
Fruit start’s to ripen in spring. Prefers full sun to semi-shade in moist, fertile and free-draining soil. Suitable as a specimen plant, in container’s, or makes an excellent espalier tree. Can grow into a large tree but trimming can help to maintain desired size.
Sub-tropical. Evergreen.
